Fourteen Months Old!!

Where does time go? My little boy is already fourteen months old!! He is walking more and more and walks almost as much as he crawls now. He is still learning and will lose his balance and will try to run to where he wants to go before falling. It is hilarious! He is also taking to putting things he finds on the ground in his mouth. As we were outside playing today he put something that looked like a rock in his mouth but when I went to retrieve it lo and behold it was pigeon poop! Gross, I know!! Luckily, I got it before he ate it!! Lately he has also began fake yawning because it makes me laugh. He saw me yawn one day and started mimicking me, which made me laugh and now he does it all the time! He truly is a little sponge. He is so much fun and has a great personality. Here are some pictures at fourteen months! Isn't he adorable?!?

Mother's Day

I had a great Mother's Day weekend. Josh and Ethan did such a good job making me feel special. Josh brought me home dinner and a chick flick on Saturday night and I got a new fiction book. On Sunday, Ethan and Josh brought me breakfast in bed, then I got my favorite..Mexican food, and then we went and spent some time at a local park. We took some pictures at the park and Ethan had a blast swinging and looking at the ducks.

Life Lessons from a thirteen month old

I have been reflecting on the many life lessons I have learned from my precious son Ethan.
Here are just a few of the things God has taught me through my son:

*Enjoy the little things in life: It is amazing how interested Ethan can be in the everyday things of life. He gets the biggest kick out of things found around the house: water bottles, markers, paper.

* Be quick to forgive: When Ethan is told no or does not get his way he will pout and cry for a minute or two and then all is forgiven. He does not hold grudges and forgets easily. Ah, if we were all this way!!

* Take time to appreciate nature: Ethan is so interested in the things of nature (animals, trees, ponds) and loves to be outside. God has designed this world so wonderfully and I often forget to take time to simply enjoy His creation.

* Eat when your hungry, sleep when your tired, and live life to the fullest in between!!

*Don't be afraid to express your true feelings. Josh and I never have to wonder if Ethan is happy, sad, frustrated, or tired. Ethan definitely lets us know how he feels!

* Try, try, and try again! As Ethan learns to walk he will take a few steps and then fall, however Ethan pops right back up and walks again! This happens numerous times throughout the day but Ethan never gives up!

* Show those you love how you feel. Josh and I never have to wonder if Ethan loves us. It is obvious in his excitement when he sees us in the mornings, when Josh gets home from work, or when I get back from running an errand.

* Learn something new everyday. Ethan is constantly learning and exploring new things. Who says we have to stop learning once we become adults?

Matthew 18:1-3 - At that time the disciples came to Jesus and said, "Who then is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" And He called a child to Himself and set him before them, and said "Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. "Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. "And whoever receives one such child in my name receives Me.

I am absolutely humbled and honored to have the amazing opportunity to be Ethan's mom and I look forward to the many more lessons I will learn along the way!! Happy Mother's Day to you all.

Oh those little kicks...

In the middle of my day to day activities I will feel a little kick and smile! It is my little girl saying "Hi Momma, I am growing and can't wait to meet you". I love the feel of this little life inside of me and every kick is a reminder that the day is getting closer to the time she is going to join our family. Those little kicks are so reassuring and encouraging to me. I can not wait until the big kicks where Josh is able to feel her move too! There are certain times of the day she moves around more than others. Usually in the morning hours or in the late evening. I look at Ethan and cannot believe it was him in my belly not too long ago. I wonder if Eliana is going to have those same bright blue eyes and the same laid back personality as Ethan or is she going to have brown eyes and be a little diva. Only time will tell. The countdown is on and I am getting more and more excited as the months fly by us. As the summer draws near, I am praying for a mild summer. I have a feeling Ethan and I are going to be spending lots of time in the pool this summer!
